Peter studied Medicine and was awarded his postgraduate MD from the University of Western Australia. He did post graduate study in Melbourne and Harvard University, Boston. Peter is Clinical Professor in Medicine and Population Health at the University of Western Australia.
Peter has been Consultant Cardiologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital since 1972 and has been Cardiologist in Charge of Coronary Care at SCGH until 2005.
Peter is both Deputy Director of the West Australian Heart Research Institute and is responsible for its Gairdner Campus, and is Deputy Director of the West Australian Institute for Medical Research.
Peter’s special interests are acute coronary syndromes and prevention of atherosclerosis. He also has a special interest in community control of coronary heart disease through his work with the Heart Foundation.
In addition to his private practice in cardiology at the Mount Hospital, Peter does on-call for Joondalup Health Campus, and also consults at his regular clinics in Bunbury and Busselton.
